Re: Immigration Requirements

Dear all:

I would like to inform you all of the Immigration requirements for visitors coming to Tanzania on project activities.

An Entry Visa (Business or Visitors)
All Visitors are required to obtain this, and it should be obtained preferably from the country of original departure.

2. Letter of Participation
Anyone coming to participate in the project for less than 2 weeks requires an approved Letter of Participation from the UNDP. This can be obtained by PCU in two weeks. Therefore, a prior notification of two weeks and a completed form (enclosed) will be required.

3) Permit (Class c)
For anyone coming to work on the project for 2 weeks to 2 Years, but who require multiple entry facility. This Permit is renewable. Cost = $120.00 (Waiver can be obtained)

4) Visitor's Pass
For anyone coming for a maximum stay of 3 months (2 weeks - 3 months). This Pass allows the holder to perform any one activity not exceeding 3 months, e.g. attend training course. This Pass is only valid for one entry. The activity/purpose needs to be specified clearly on attached application form. Cost = $200.00 (Waiver can be obtained)

Please be advised that, since our project qualifies for the cost exemption of the Permit/Pass, I would request for notifications and application (form enclosed) in advance; in order to receive proper immigration documents and exemptions. The process is a bureaucratic one and hence, will take minimum of six weeks to be processed.

I would request all project staff to comply with this request so that we can follow proper immigration laws and our own project guidelines.

Thank you

Ritesh Bhandari
Project Assistant
